Did you spot something new? Yes, I’ve changed a bit of the blog’s layout and I have a new logo : ) This is a part of the change I mentioned earlier which in total taken me 6 hours of time in fine tuning them on my birthday! Initially, the designer of this logo let me choose 3 different styled logo, it’s quite interesting to me as each of them are so different from one another. Then, I decided to go for this one. If you look closely(maybe to the larger version at top banner), it’s like hand written of ink on paper as not all of the strokes are in perfect form.

In my point of view, this logo represents me – a newly created business( ie. I’m starting to write ‘something’ from scratch. ) That explains why I was talking about it looked like hand writing. Also, it represents modern and young to me figuratively based on the style. I want my work to be modern and young which Ahem… best represents my age range too :p My real Chinese name is still kept into the design as like I said before, I want to keep on reminding myself about my root and people who have helped or taught me throughout my life and especially those supports I get this year when starting my own business.

I think there will be some people who might ask, why in the world you change your logo a few times in less than one year time? Good question. I have one logo on January, changed to another one on March, altered a bit on April and now announcing a brand new one on September. Reason is, I thought my previous logos are not good looking aesthetically, although it’s something I created my ownself… I’m actually not the biggest critic on my own work, I always try to think on how to go better but this round I’m really at a bottle neck as I have no graphic design background, I realized that I should find a professional in this field to do the work as this is what they do best, not me. Likewise, if you’re not a photographer, you can buy a camera and take picture, but your picture might not be as good or consistent compared to professional photographers. This is one of the lesson I have learnt from this process.

Next, more recent work to follow, thank you and keep following.

It’s the theme Jocelyn & Joe wanted for this wedding held at Penang on last Saturday. Both Jocelyn & Joe met by chance at Jakarta and it’s one of the precious examples on earth that love at first sight transformed into husband and wife. The reception was held at the Arshak Suite of E&O hotel, having only intimate family members and friends to celebrate this very special day.

This wedding has been a very special one to me personally especially the very moving and heart felt speeches one after another, they made my eyes teary on the spot and even when I’m culling the shots to be posted here this afternoon. All these are made possible by Jocelyn and Joe because they led-and-let me to be part of their special day. I’m really glad that I’m part of their wedding and the energetic crowd and children who had fun at the dance floor are simply amazing!

Well, I think I’m not really good in telling stories in English but I’ll try to improve! Jocelyn, Joe, if you are reading this, I wanted to thank both of you here for having faith in me for capturing your special day at Penang. I was emotionally involved and had every minute of fun even that I’m shooting. Have a safe trip back!

Jocelyn has been very very kind. She get out from her chair like every 10 minutes in the middle of the makeup session and keep on digging every little thing she could thought of to let me shoot cause she fear that I might feel bored! She even told Joe to brush the ring so that I could have a shiny one. She’s a lovely bride every photographer would love!

And there I have it. Brand new looking rings for details shot! :p

See the yellow ‘thingy’? It’s a garter for the night’s garter ceremony! Which is my first time shooting it.

Isn’t that all the details lovely? Jocelyn is the master mind for them.

Under the witness of the Goddess of Mercy, Joe has thoughtfully proposed to Jocelyn few years back at Kek Lok Si, Penang.

I love this cake. They are so ‘theme based’ and lovely. Most important of all, it’s edible! ;p

Jocelyn was explaining to the guests why there’s a saying in the Hokkien language to tell the elderly to dry their tea cup during the tea ceremony. Something like this, ‘teh lim da da, sin niao ghia sai meh ni zhoh ba ba ma ma.‘ LOL. If you’re not a Chinese speaking person, you might need a translator.

Family and friends, from as far as the US, India, Indonesia, and Scotland all in one place for one special occasion.

Do you still remember that portrait shoots are classified as Photo Diary here? If you have never heard of this, you must have missed out the “What We Do?” area above. I don’t know how many people would be interested to know how I shoot. Nothing to shout about, but since Milan Teh Studio is still new to a lot of people. I think it’s good to show people what I’m doing here with a little explanation.

I love to produce shots that pleasure the eyes and therefore, my approach to shooting portraits are based on two qualities: Beautiful. & Comfortable. Below, there are 2 different series of photos that depict this two different qualities.

Beautiful

Now, let’s start with a series of photos that is beauty centric. Yukie, our subject for this series is not a model by profession nor part time model. This shoot is about making her beautiful.

Yukie is posed and directed by me throughout the shoot.

But of course, if you are a male taking Photo Diary, we will make you look good instead of beautiful. hehe. I would say this photo below is a hybrid, a mixture of beautiful and comfortable – as you can see, there’s a pose there but the expression captured gives people a comfortable view as it is natural.

Comfortable

Next, for this series, we have Yushino as our subject. She is also not a model by profession. The whole shoot is mood centric, it might not have any meaning but, the photos show the mood that the subject wanted to convey/treasure. The whole series would then give people a comfortable feeling when viewing.

Therefore, when you sign up Photo Diary with us, let us know what you expect for the outcome. You could have the whole shoot that is to make you look good ultimately. Or perhaps a mixture, beautiful and comfortable or fully comfortable as you have some mood that you wanted me to help you capture into your Photo Diary. Just tell us what you like, it’s that simple. We will also help you review your clothes for the photoshoot as it is a series of related/theme based shoot.

Announcement:

Initially I wanted to blog about photo diary of Milan Teh Studio but I’ve decided to skip that first and I wanted to introduce family diary to everyone and share with all of you what I did very recently.

During this Chinese New Year, I was hired for an outdoor family shoot at Hard Rock Hotel, Penang on the first day of Chinese New Year. My client, Pik Yoke and her 2 elder sisters are staying at different countries and it is quite a rare opportunity that all 3 of them could gather together in Malaysia at the same time.

What I thought is the most happy thing for me is looking at how happy they were during the shoot especially my client’s mother. Her mother was really happy about all 3 daughters being able to gather at the same time during this New Year. I could really feel her mother and the process of the 3 hours shoot was like having fun all the time!

As for myself, I did volunteered to shoot some pictures for my family this year. At the end of the day looking back to the pictures, no words could describe my happiness to see everyone is inside and all the spontaneous moments like how I do for actual day weddings that was captured with the camera. It’s like a gift I’m giving myself and the reward is simply, priceless. Perhaps every photographer should do this once in a while too. It’s not about how much we will earn but rather, how happy we will be.

Back to family diary, why I wanted to ‘assign’ a diary name for my shoots? Simply because I see them as a diary, when you ‘flip’ through the photos, they will evoke emotions and memories. Like wise for what I did for my clients, have a look at the photo slide show I’ve made for them at below. I’m not posting photos this round as there are too many of them that I love! Thanks to the generosity of my client, Pik Yoke, she has been very kind to allow me to put this up here. So, do enjoy the rest of Chinese New Year with your loved ones people! Happy Chinese New Year to all of you. TQ~

Greetings to everyone who’re reading this, welcome to the photo-weblog of Milan Teh Studio! First of all, we would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and hope that the year of 2010 would be a great one for each of you.

My name is Milan Teh, the founder and principal photographer for Milan Teh Studio and I will be responsible for all the blog entries for this site unless stated otherwise. I guess a lot of you might ask who on earth is this Milan Teh fella. If you are interested to know, click on “About Us” above to read further As for my 2010, it will be a brand new exciting & challenging start personally in a lot of aspects as I’m heading a very different path for my future. However, I’m really happy that this site is finally up and running because it marks my humble start as a full time photographer.

Next, do feel free to browse around this site and we would love to hear some feedback about how you feel about this place in terms of it’s color, layout, content, or anything so that we could improve better! As for the initial start, I hope that all visitors would spend a bit of time looking through all the photos on the ‘moving banner’ at the top of this page. They were some of my old work but eventually they will be replaced by my latest work. Apart from that, I will keep you all posted bout my latest work and what I do.

Oh, before I forget, about the photo with green background for this post. This is my latest work, the makeup and hairdo of this female client in this photo was done by a member of Milan Teh Studio, Ms. Joan Tan. You could read a bit more about Joan at “About Us’ page too! And also, this photo was an out of camera shot, which means no editing was done on it other than re-sized & putting my own watermark.

Lastly, I hope that everyone of you would enjoy your visit to my page. If you like, drop us a comment on the comment box below or share www.milanteh.com with your friends! I would really appreciate that from the bottom of my heart. THANK YOU! In addition, I’d love to know more people from around the world, and also hope that through this site, I could help others through my available photography knowledge & skills. If you want to be a friend of mine, you could easily find me on Facebook or Twitter with the name of “milan teh” or you could simply, google me. TQ~

*Up coming next, some of my previous work on year 2009 that I would share with all of you. STAY TUNED!
