Apparently we encountered a bit of hiccup with the submission page after being told by some participants yesterday. Therefore, we decided to prolong the contest period to ensure everyone intended to join get to send their entries to us.

Furthermore, we have served a number of couples from overseas coming to Penang just to have their wedding reception because of the weather, food, people, environment and scenery here. And thus, this inspires me to come up with the idea of showing people the beautiful places in Penang. Believe it or not, some Penangites might not even know the existence of certain places I have shot!

Penang is a great spot for vacation, to live in and an ideal destination wedding location of your choice. This round, I’m privileged to have Motion In Style to collaborate with us to produce a short video just for this purpose. Just a personal update. I had a 40′C high fever last 2 weeks for several days, with the high fever, forced myself to continue attend a photography seminar in KL for 2 days and followed by 4 back to back shoots. It was really a tough experience having need to shoot with fever and headache, I’m glad I had finally made it and very surprisingly, last quarter of 2010 has been very busy and all come in a sudden. I am thankful that I know many right people at the right time and this has lead to my survival for 2010 as a full time photographer for the first year. Sounds like a new year resolution? No, will write one when 2010 is ending :p After being long winded, I’m just trying to explain why I didn’t blog regularly this month. lol!

Anyhow, I’ve been seeking for permission from a few clients recently to post their photos here and I do hope that I can blog at least once per week. So, stay tuned and keep on reading and following.

Some while ago, this thingy was known as Fan Page where followers were called ‘Fans’ and gradually, Facebook made some changes and renamed this as Business Page and people click a “LIKE” to follow the page they are interested to. Beginning of the year after I registered this business, I used to think if I really need to create this or it’s something that people wants to have for the sake of having?

After some long thought, I think that it’s a great way for me to share ideas and benefit to people who are interested to what we do – me and Joan for an instance. You have no idea how much I wanted to know each of you who are reading and following my blog and work! Often, I see my blog is visited by people in different places or countries(through software) but I am totally clueless who are they and how they came here. It has been a few months since we started but I realized that my personal Facebook account is not ideal in what I wanted to achieve. So please, follow us today if you like what we do or you are a reader of this blog. As a token of appreciation, other than updating you guys with our latest happenings,  this page is created with the primary intention of giving out and sharing. For the week of selecting picture and editing, it took me quite some time as I am very new to this. Not knowing what to expect, I’ve selected 11 pictures that I really like and submitted. This competition has a scoring system, for entry that scores 80 and above, they will earn an Accolades of Excellence point and the 1st, 2nd, 3rd place is selected from here too. To cut things short, I’ve earned myself an Accolades of Excellence out of my 11 submissions. Although I’m not winning any awards this round, I will strive to improve further in my work . I’m glad that I have participated in this competition because I believe it guides me to be a better photographer throughout the process. Finally, the almost 2 months wait for the result is now over. It’s a big relief.

Last but not least, a great man and teacher I wanted to thank is Louis Pang, will blog about this man when I have enough pictures and information. lol~ Before this competition accepts entries, he had organized a free talk in Penang to guide fellow photographers in Penang how to judge a photo and what are the things that could be improved. Thanks to this session, I have more idea about this competition and how I could better finish my photographs for competition. Now, I’m sharing all my 11 entries with everyone and the marks I have got too in hoping that it will benefit photographers who are planning to join this competition.

Did you spot something new? Yes, I’ve changed a bit of the blog’s layout and I have a new logo : ) This is a part of the change I mentioned earlier which in total taken me 6 hours of time in fine tuning them on my birthday! Initially, the designer of this logo let me choose 3 different styled logo, it’s quite interesting to me as each of them are so different from one another. Then, I decided to go for this one. If you look closely(maybe to the larger version at top banner), it’s like hand written of ink on paper as not all of the strokes are in perfect form.

In my point of view, this logo represents me – a newly created business( ie. I’m starting to write ‘something’ from scratch. ) That explains why I was talking about it looked like hand writing. Also, it represents modern and young to me figuratively based on the style. I want my work to be modern and young which Ahem…  best represents my age range too :p My real Chinese name is still kept into the design as like I said before, I want to keep on reminding myself about my root and people who have helped or taught me throughout my life and especially those supports I get this year when starting my own business.

I think there will be some people who might ask, why in the world you change your logo a few times in less than one year time? Good question. I have one logo on January, changed to another one on March, altered a bit on April and now announcing a brand new one on September. Reason is, I thought my previous logos are not good looking aesthetically, although it’s something I created my ownself… I’m actually not the biggest critic on my own work, I always try to think on how to go better but this round I’m really at a bottle neck as I have no graphic design background, I realized that I should find a professional in this field to do the work as this is what they do best, not me. Likewise, if you’re not a photographer, you can buy a camera and take picture, but your picture might not be as good or consistent compared to professional photographers. This is one of the lesson I have learnt from this process.

Dear readers and visitors, if you are a loyal reader of this blog, I would like to apologize for the ‘inactive’ atmosphere that took place in the past few weeks, I must admit I was a bad blogger but I promise to put a stop to this very soon! Next, you will expect to see more personal posts of what is inside my mind and heart and of course, many more of my recent work and what I do Don’t you think that it’s weird to read a human being’s blog but that human is not sounding like one? hehe.. I would like to thank friends in my Facebook who gave me their inputs about whether they’d be interest to read something personal about me in the blog that in turn gave me this idea Thank you!

For the past few weeks, I am planning for a change and announcement that will be revealed on September, I’m trying my very best to make it happen and this is a time consuming process for me as I am the only one taking care of every single thing: meeting people & vendors, finishing photos, travel for shooting, and making decisions be it a small decision or big ones. But, I’m not complaining though, this is certainly a great new adventure in a new chapter of my life and I enjoy what I do right now as a photographer. I assure that the September announcement and change will be an exciting ones to literally everyone!

Thanks to suggestions of brides-to-be, I’m making some new changes to my menu bar – the “about us”, “history”, “category” etc that you see above. What’s worth mentioning is the addition of “Services & Rates“, “J Area” and “Raves“.

By clicking “Services & Rates”, you are now able to see what’s the promotion that is going on in Milan Teh Studio. All packages and starting price are clearly laid out in a simple & clean manner.

“J Area” consists of everything related to our makeup artist/image consultant, Ms. Joan Tan. Her latest work and products related on her part will be slowly uploaded there.

Previously, we get some comments/feedback from potential clients telling us that we don’t have a lot of photo samples to see, whether it’s on pre-wedding photographs or makeup & hairdo sample. They would love to view more. Understandable. As we’ve just started business on January, we need a bit of time to generate more photos for your viewing pleasure.

However, Joan & I had thought of something soon after the client’s feedback. We would love and more than happy to invite all of you sincerely to take part in this, we call it ‘Happy Bride‘. Happy Bride is a limited time offering that will held for 7 days in Penang & 3 days in KL only. (Addition or subtraction of the offering time slot will be depending on the demand and will change without prior notice.)

Each day, we have 3 slots available to choose from: 8am, 12pm & 4pm slot. Each slot takes about 3 hours of time and it is on a first come first served basis. This is how it works, Joan & I will pay a visit to your place, makeup and hairdo will be done for you according to the style & color of your dress. Next, you will have a 30 minutes shooting session from me, you are entitled to choose a nearby location of your choice or alternatively we could have a studio type/indoor shoot in your very own place cause I will bring along my mini studio equipments. All high resolution out of camera shots will be returned, via a piece of CD.

-First, take a photo of you and your desired dress

For Happy Bride, a small charges will be imposed. As Joan has sensitive skin, she understands that it’s important to use good cosmetic products as at the end of the day, they are a sort of ‘chemicals’ too. Similarly, products that she will be using on customers varies from: Aery Jo, Benefit, Bobbi Brown, RMK, The Body Shop, Definite, Office, Coffret D’or, Revecen, Tifafine & Red Earth. Therefore the little charges that we impose is just for our costs only. We truly hope that you’ll enjoy the session, have fun and get some pretty & memorable picture for your own collection.
